OnlyFans Sent an Email to Their Users on August 20th, 2021 Announcing Upcoming Changes

Controversy circulated over social media and news outlets all day on August 19th, 2021 in a frenzy of confusion over Bloomberg announcing that OnlyFans will be banning sexually explicit content. Although the day was spent receiving mixed answers from OnlyFans support and “statements” that weren’t sourced, many performers were optimistic that the news would be false. Unfortunately, OnlyFans sent out an announcement about their changes which does in fact ban sexually explicit content. Here is what they had to say:

” Dear OnlyFans Creator,

This email is to notify you of changes to our Acceptable Use Policy that will go live effective October 1, 2021.

The new policy will prohibit the posting of any new content containing sexually-explicit conduct. Content containing nudity will continue to be allowed as long as it is consistent with the policy.

Existing content that does not meet the standards of the new policy will need to be removed before December 1, 2021.

Our intention is for the policy to be implemented in accordance with the above dates, but we may need to change one or more of the dates as circumstances may require.

Here is a link to the new Acceptable Use Policy – https://www.onlyfans.com/aup

Why did the policy have to change?

Due to the size and rapid growth of the OnlyFans platform, where creators have earned over $5 billion dollars since inception, we must increasingly rely on large banking institutions and payment processors to facilitate payments between fans and creators. The new rules are necessary to comply with the requirements of these financial institutions and are the only way to help ensure the long-term sustainability of OnlyFans.

OnlyFans was founded as a diverse and inclusive home for all content creators and we stand by our commitment to that mission. We will continue to support and guide all creators through these necessary changes, making sure that all creators have a home on our platform.

We look forward to continuing to provide an innovative platform for our diverse creator community.

Thank you,
OnlyFans Team”

What is no longer allowed to be posted on OnlyFans as of October 1st, 2021?

Content that contains the following is no longer allowed on OnlyFans after October 1st, 2021. It will also need to be removed before December 1st, 2021.

  • actual or simulated sexual intercourse, including genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or oral-anal, between persons of any sex
  • actual or simulated masturbation
  • any exhibition of the anus or genitals of any person which is extreme or offensive
  • actual or simulated material depicting bodily fluids commonly secreted during sexual conduct
  • contains, promotes, advertises or refers to hate speech (being Content intended to vilify, humiliate, dehumanize, exclude, attack, threaten, or incite hatred, fear of, or violence against, a group or individual based on race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, caste, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, serious disease, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic)

These updates eliminate the ability for a majority of pornographic creators to utilize the platform. It even creates potential problems for FemDom creators due to limitations to humiliation and dehumanization.

What IS Allowed on OnlyFans after October 1st, 2021?

  • Tasteful Nudes – Professionally photography that is not “extreme” or “vulgar”
  • Lewds – Topless photos that do not include any penetration or spreading of extremities
  • Bikini photos or any SFW photos – thirst traps that are SFW will be allowed

They have a very robust referral program that rewards performers for bringing traffic and features like pay-per-minute video calls that set it apart from other platforms.

ModelCentro – Build An Adult Paysite Quickly and Easily

ModelCentro is a platform that makes it easy for performers and studios to build their own membership sites. ModelCentro requires no upfront investment or technical knowledge. It works on a revshare model (72% after all the fees) and ModelCentro doesn’t charge for anything (hosting, ect). They only get paid when you get a sale.

ModelCentro is a different beast than OnlyFans, as it’s a platform for building your own website, and not an actual platform. There is evidence that shows that it’s often easier to get subscriptions on a network, especially if the customer already has an existing account on said network. That being said; there’s a lot of advantages of running your own website outside of the subscriptions. Other services can be offered on the site, and it can be used for promoting other networks and services as well.

AdultMemberSites – Website Building Platform For Models

AdultMemberSites is another website building platform for adult performers. Like ModelCentro, there is no upfront costs with the platform, and it works on a revshare model. AdultMemberSites has a complicated percentage-structure, but performers can earn up to 85%. Keep in mind that there are some maintenance fees associated with the platform, but performers don’t pay those fees until they start making enough money.

Once again, this is not a platform, but a website. Evidence points to it being easier to get signups on a network than it is on a website, but there are some advantages to running your own website. This includes increased exposure and the ability to promote other networks and services.
