Popular Adult Tube Site Pornhub Switches to “Tiers” for Monetization

The popular adult content tube site Pornhub has recently made changes to their payment program which is now a “tier” system which applies to both Verified Model and Pornstar accounts. The new tier system ranges in benefits from bronze to diamond and is as follows:

• Diamond Rank: Must maintain rank 1-50 throughout the quarter (3 months) and have 15 or more video uploads that are 7 minutes or longer.
• Platinum Rank: Must maintain rank 1-50 throughout the quarter (3 months) and have 9-14 video uploads that are 7 minutes or longer OR must maintain rank 1-100 throughout the quarter (3 months) and have 9 or more video uploads that are 7 minutes or longer.
• Gold Rank: Must maintain rank 1-50 throughout the quarter (3 months) and have 1-8 video uploads that are 7 minutes or longer OR must maintain rank 1-100 throughout the quarter (3 months) and have 1-8 video uploads that are 7 minutes or longer OR must maintain rank 1-1,000 throughout the quarter and have 6 or more video uploads that are 7 minutes or longer.
• Silver Rank: Must maintain rank 1-1,000 throughout the quarter (3 months) and have at least 1-5 video uploads that are 7 minutes or longer OR must maintain rank 1-10,000 and have at least 6 or more uploads that are 7 minutes or longer.
• Bronze Rank: Must maintain rank 1-10,000 throughout the quarter (3 months) and have at least 1-5 video uploads that are 7 minutes or longer OR can maintain any rank and have at least 6 or more uploads that are 7 minutes or longer within the quarter.
• Member Rank: Any rank in the quarter and uploads 1-5 videos that are 7 minutes or longer.

If you do not maintain upload consistency and time requirements in any of the listed ranks then you’re account will be de-monetized, which will remove your ability to earn money on your free content on the platform even though advertisements will stay be placed on your content. The 7 minute or longer video must also be unique content that is not already posted OR it can be a compilation video of already existing content. (Source) The tier program started January 1st, 2024 which means tier calculations for the first quarter of the tier program will take place on March 31st, 2024 and the program will be “officially launched” on April 1st, 2024.

What are the payment benefits for the various tiers?

This information still has not been made public and appears to not be easily accessible to the public which we are hoping will change when the platform officially launches the tier program on April 1st. We messaged to ask what the payment benefits are for the various tiers and this post will be updated with a response if we receive one before the launch date.

When will tiers be calculated?

Tiers will be calculated on the following schedule:

• Starts January 1st, Ends March 31st
• Starts April 1st, Ends June 30th
• Starts July 1st, Ends September 30th
• Starts October 1st, Ends December 31st

Why did Pornhub launch the tier program?

The tier program was launched in an effort to keep models posting to the platform consistently. The currently recommendation from Pornhub is to post 2-4 times a month but to remain monetized at all you need to upload at least 1 video every 6 months that is 7 minutes or longer. After 6 months of video upload inactivity from your account, they will remove monetization from your account.

What if I join in the middle of a quarter?

All models will enter at Silver Rank and their placement within the tier system will be updated after your first 90 days at the next quarters end. It is impossible to drop below Silver Rank in your first 90 days which gives you 3 months to meet the requirements for the tier that you desire.

Will my content shorter than 7 minutes still be monetized?

Your content that is shorter than 7 minutes in length will still be monetized IF you continue to upload at least 1 video that is 7 minutes or longer every 6 months. (Source) This will apply to content shorter than 7 minutes that is uploaded in the future as well so long as you meet the minimum of 1 upload that is 7 minutes or longer every 6 months.

What if I retire? Will my account become demonetized?

In short, yes. If you can not log in to your account every 6 months and upload 1 video that is 7 minutes or longer then your account will become demonetized regardless of how many views you still receive or the length and amount of your video catalog on the platform. If you’ve retired and are looking to keep your account monetized, we recommend creating compilations of your videos you’ve already filmed that are 7 minutes or longer to retain your account monetization.

What does this mean for the future of Pornhub and model relations?

The choice to move to tier options and demand longer unique content from performers has definitely negatively impacted the current relationship Pornhub has with it’s base of models. Since advertisements will still appear on pages that are not monetized, it can only be assumed that Pornhub will be pocketing the profits from advertisements on content posted by models that are de-monetized for failing to maintain activity on the platform. This essentially means Pornhub will be making a bigger profit than before from content that they will not be paying for.

What are my options if I do not agree with the tier program?

There are a few things you can do if you do not agree with the tier program to protest the change:

• Delete your Account: In order to delete your model account, you’ll need to contact Pornhub support. Make sure to let them know you’re deleting your account as a result of tiers.
• Remove all Content: On your individual videos there is an edit button, click that and click on the trash can icon in the top right corner to delete the video.
• Express Disapproval: Tweet at PornhubHelp and Pornhub to let them know you do not agree with this decision.
