Things to think about when choosing a computer for camming

In this video, Katy Churchill discusses a few different things to consider when you’re looking at computers for camming. The right computer might be different for each performer, and depends on the site you want to cam on, but Katy discusses some things to consider while you’re shopping around.

  • Laptop vs Desktop: Katy uses a desktop, but most models prefer a laptop for the portability. Make sure your wifi is very steady, or use an ethernet cable to eliminate the risk of dropping frames. Also, netbooks/Chromebooks are not true laptops and aren’t a good choice.
  • Future Upgrades: It’s easy to upgrade a desktop, but upgrading a laptop is much more expensive. Consider how long you will be using the computer before looking at upgrading/replacing your machine when you are making a decision.
  • Mobile Camming: Several sites are heavily promoting their “cam from your phone” apps or options, but it’s probably not the right choice for you, especially if you are a new model. If you have no other options, though, there are many sites that will let you cam from your newer model smartphone.
  • PC or Mac: PC.
