A Different Approach to Holiday Content

Ah, the winter holidays. A season to spend time with (and money on!) your nearest and dearest. It’s also a season full of contests and themed promotions on cam sites and clip sites, and a potential money-maker for models. But how can you capitalize on seasonal potential without going overboard? In 2017 I went all-out for Christmas, shooting multiple themed photo sets and 6 Christmas-themed videos. I also packed my ManyVids store with multiple different prize tiers, all holiday-themed.

While the holiday videos and a few store items did sell, I found that the effort I put in was not reflected in my sales. This year I have taken a different approach with several holidays, and it has already paid off! The tips below can be applied to any holiday, and used again and again.

Taking Holiday-Themed Photos

Taking a few fresh photos with seasonal props doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming. Mixing in some new photos with any old ones you have from previous years is a quick and easy way to generate content for social media posts. The dollar store is where I buy a few cheap seasonal props, or on clearance right after the holiday. I have a plastic bin for each of the major holidays with my clothing and props so I always know what I have and where it is.

Promote Old Videos

You don’t need to shoot new videos for every holiday every year. Give your old content a refresh with a new GIF or thumbnail, and plaster it across your social media. If you decide to film new content, one video is enough. Over the years of your career, those holiday videos will add up until you have loads of content to promote for every season!

Use Broader Themes

Try to tap into holiday-themed spins on content that typically sells well for you, and expand your theme as broadly as possible. For example, Easter can mean some cute bunny cosplay, or you could try some religious-themed content–nuns blaspheming is always a popular niche! Valentine’s Day lends itself to all manner of GFE role play, of course. For Christmas, of course, everything Santa or elf-costumed is popular, but adding in a kink like cuckolding can grab some additional sales.

Be Careful About Running Discounts and Sales

Unless you’re going out of business, resist the urge to hold a fire sale. Putting your content on sale too frequently will reduce your full-price sales as customers will wait to purchase until your next sale. If you will be taking time off during the holidays, a 10-25% markdown on content can help generate some extra income while you’re not camming. 50-75% off is unnecessary, and can really undervalue your work. If you have lots of old holiday videos or photo sets, consider a sale on just your themed content!

Holidays Are Short by Relevant!

Holiday content can have a very short shelf life, but it becomes relevant again once a year. By taking a slightly different approach to holiday content you can reduce your effort while maximizing your earnings.
