Assembly Bill 5 goes into effect in January
If you haven’t been keeping up on the Assembly Bill 5 storm hitting the adult industry, you can check out How California Assembly Bill 5 (AB5) Impacts Camming Models and Assembly Bill 5 Showing Signs of Cam Site Complications but if you don’t have time for the long read, in short: AB5 is going into effect on January 1st, 2020. So far, camming site Streamate has been the only site to announce that their camming models based in California will be impacted. Chaturbate has released a statement that Californian models on their platform will be unaffected. Most sites have not responded to our requests for comment.
Manyvids has responded with their AB5 plans
Clip site Manyvids has released this information regarding their plans for AB5:
“We know that many California-based creators and MV Stars who use the ManyVids’ platform are worrying how this news will impact their careers and we want to assure you we’re aware of this development, take it seriously, and that we’re looking into this with our lawyers and legal team.
We want to do what’s best for all our MV Stars who are paving their own career paths and being their own bosses and we’re currently looking into our options. We know this can be nerve-racking for our California creators but for the time being, it is business as usual and we will update the MV Community as soon as we have more information or receive further updates.”
