Phone Sex Secrets – The PSO Goddess You Can Learn Everything From by Raven Skye

Phone Sex Secrets

Interview With Lynn With Phone Sex Secrets

I’ve been in the adult industry for about 8 years now and have been a phone sex operator (PSO) off and on throughout that time. I’m on every industry forum I know of and was on some that no longer exist. I’ve read every PSO blog I can find and the best one, hands down, is phonesexsecrets.info. I have learned valuable information about being a PSO, how to go independent, and so much more from Lynn. I’m definitely thinking about taking advantage of her consulting services soon to expand my PSO business.

The owner of this site is a PSO veteran named Lynn and her posts and tips will help any new or experienced PSO immensely. Lynn has been interviewed for TV shows, such as Good Morning America, and other media due to her I follow her on Twitter @phonesexsecrets and you should, too.

Her Twitter, Tumblr, and website links are at the end of the interview so make sure you check them out! She does PSO consulting if you’re new and want her help getting started or have any questions you need answered by an experienced and knowledgeable expert.

Interview With Lynn

Raven: What is your site about?

Lynn: Phone Sex Secrets is a site to help both those considering work as an independent phone sex operator, as well as those who are already working in the industry.

The website began six years ago as a place for me to refer people to, rather than having to repeat myself so many times. After just a few months, I was contacted by Rat Race Rebellion, a company which helps folks with work from home opportunities, to participate in a Good Morning America feature. That’s when the site grew exponentially; now I also offer professional consulting services.

Raven: How long have you been in the industry?

Lynn: I have been a sex worker for decades now. I began as an escort, worked as an erotica author, and then an independent phone sex operator. Now, I also wear an “adult industry consultant” hat. 😉

Raven: What services do you provide?

Lynn: Virtually everything! For those investigating the possibility of becoming a phone sex operator, we begin with exploration… I begin by asking questions and providing information for a client to consider, so that a person can answer the all-important question, “Is sex work, being a phone sex operator, right for me?” Then, even if the client is still mulling things over, we may move on to “business stuff.”

Whether a person is merely at the considering stage, is a PSO newbie, or has been at this for awhile now, there are, of course, the practical matters of how to work and make the most of your phone sex business.

Together clients and I go through a sort of mini assessment to explore individual assets, strengths, weaknesses, resources, skill sets, experiences, and the like. It’s like the “you are here” X on a map. 😉 The we identify client needs, priorities, and goals. This is the “where you want to go” part of things. From there, we create a plan, a journey.

This plan, based on the reality of their individual situation and resources, is all about getting a person to reach their individual goals. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Character & content creation
  • Target marketing
  • Website, profile, & listing reviews
  • Marketing
  • Industry resources
  • Generating additional income from your blog/website
  • Coaching
  • And did I mention marketing? 😉

I absolutely believe in the “teach a person to fish” method of education. However, I do realize there are some times when business owners need to outsource and so I also provide some other straight-up services, like website creation & graphic design. (This includes setting up or creating unified websites, blogs, operator profiles & listings, social media profiles, etc. for consistent and effective branding.) I also offer promotion and advertising on Tumblr & Twitter. (For PSOs as well as cam & clip performers.)

Raven: What tips do you have for new PSO’s?

Lynn: I think the first issue here is for each individual to make an educated decision about whether or not becoming a PSO is the right thing to do! Sex work is not not for everyone. And sex work is work. Becoming an independent PSO is not a “get rich quick” scheme; you are building a business. A business in a competitive marketplace.

As my clients know, I am all about practicing self-care. I work with my clients to address (if not outright avoid) potential emotional triggers, how to deal with stress, how to build safe networks, how to avoid legal and other issues which may create only more problems… Like a lot of sex work, being a phone sex provider can be very emotional work. It’s a lot of “energy out,” so people need to know how to “feed” themselves. I’m big into privacy, safety, and general self care! So my best one-size-fits-all advice is: Take Care Of Yourself!

Raven: What are your site/career goals for the future?

Lynn: This is an interesting time for me. As the demand for my PSO consulting services grows, I am definitely feeling the push and pull effect…

The simple math here is that there only one of me. So for every consulting session I have, every bit of work I do wearing that hat, I am unable to entertain my phone sex callers. Since I certainly make more with my actual phone sex services, I am now in the place where I am being forced to decide just what needs to give…

The truth is, as a consultant, I could be charging, easily, up to 10 times what I currently charge. I have resisted this so that I could be a more affordable resource. But, as I have been in this position for nearly a year now, soon I am going to have to take my own advice about stress and self-care and make a decision.

Raven: Any other information you want to add?

Lynn: There is a low barrier of entry to becoming an indie PSO. This makes it an inexpensive and ideal business venture for many people; especially for those who, for health, family, or other reasons, find a flexible schedule necessary. (You might want to link to this piece I was interviewed for: The Life of a Phone Sex Operator)

Yet it is this very ease of entry which makes for a lot of competition. Not just among PSOs either. The ease of today’s tech combined with the lucrative appeal is leading to an ever-growing number of phone sex sites, companies, and individual “on the sly” alternative attempts to cash in. No matter how you view the competition, or where you sit in the middle of all it it, the competition is there. It is very real. Marketing skills and efforts are mandatory.

Raven: Your links to promote/social media info?
