Patreon Is No Longer Supporting Camgirls / Adult Performers
Crowd-sourcing / funding platform Patreon has updated their TOS and given the adult industry the boot. The Patreon TOS contains some language that specifically calls out camming models in particular. Patreon also uses some vague language such as “sexual services” that could be used to describe a whole range of things. Here’s the new updated Patreon TOS, an analysis and some Patreon alternatives for adult performers.
Here Is The Patreon TOS Regarding Porn / Camming:
We ask creators to flag themselves as Adult Content if they create any content that has mature themes such as sexuality or graphic violence. When you are flagged as Adult Content your page is removed from our search. We also require that all public content on your page be appropriate for all audiences. Content with mature themes must be marked as a patron-only post.
We have zero tolerance when it comes to the glorification of sexual violence which includes bestiality, rape, and child exploitation (i.e., sexualized depiction of minors). This is true for illustrated, animated, or any other type of content. Patreon reserves the right to review and remove accounts that may violate this guideline. As a strong commitment to child safety, we will work with law enforcement whenever we come across child exploitation.
We also do not allow other fringe sexual fetish content, such as incest, necrophilia, or fetish content that is hard to distinguish from non-consensual sex.
We understand that some topics on this list such as incest or rape are a little bit more complicated because these situations are, unfortunately, part of real life. As a result, when reviewing this type of content, the Trust and Safety team will take into consideration context including personal, historical or educational narrative. For example, survivor stories or fiction such as Game of Thrones or Lolita are allowed on Patreon.
Lastly, you cannot sell pornographic material or arrange sexual service(s) as a reward for your patrons. You can’t use Patreon to raise funds in order to produce pornographic material such as maintaining a website, funding the production of movies, or providing a private webcam session.
If you have doubts about whether to mark your page as Adult Content or not, we always recommend that you do so for the sake of precaution. This is especially important as Patreon welcomes different communities with different sensitivities. You can read more about the Adult Content flag here.
Patreon Calls Out Camming Shows Specifically
The one real interesting thing is that Patreon referenced Private Webcam Sessions specifically. That leads me to believe that Patreon is targeting camming models specifically. This could mean that if you’re a camgirl, there’s a target on your back, even if you’re not using Patreon for anything adult-oriented.
The Vagueness Of “Arrange Sexual Service(s)”
This is the other interesting piece of language in the TOS. It is written incredibly vague. It reads like it’s referring to prostitution, but worded in a way to where anything could fall under this. Even something that isn’t necessarily explicit in nature.
If you’re looking for some Patreon alternatives, here’s some great platforms that could work. None of them are exactly like Patreon, but these alternatives will allow your Patreon fans to subscribe monthly to access exclusive content. All of them are also adult-friendly.
OnlyFans: Subscription-Based Social Media Network
OnlyFans is a great alternative to Patreon that accepts adult content. OnlyFans only allows for a single monthly rate, but does support extra tips and locked content. Therefore, it’s very similar to Patreon, minus the fact that multiple tiers aren’t supported. OnlyFans is available web-based and also comes with a mobile app that makes it easy to upload and stream from a mobile phone. OnlyFans pays out 80%.
ModelCentro: Website / Fanclub Builder For Adult Models
ModelCentro is a website building platform for models. With ModelCentro, you can take your fan subscriptions to the next level. Instead of having a page on a network, you can have your own site with a members area. In addition to monthly subscriptions, ModelCentro models can also sell individual content sets on the site (no paid membership required), do live webcam shows and more. ModelCentro pays out 75%.
Also Check Out The Clip Site Directory
These sites might not specialize in crowdfunding and membership tiers, but they can be used to sell content and services. Some of these networks only support clips, while others allow for custom store items that can be used to sell all sorts of things. It would even be possible to convert all your Patreon levels into store items at the various sites. Payout rates for these networks vary drastically from network to network.
