HentaiLive / Abby Oddly: Chaturbate’s “Cartoon Camgirl”

HentaiLive / Abby Oddly

Major Update: We did a video interview with FigWiggy. That interview is being uploaded to YouTube and will be available shortly. During out next YouTube hangout (Wed. March 21st) we’ll be dissecting what was said (and not said) during the FigWiggy interview.

New Live Hentai Girl Taking Over Chaturbate?

Today, the very first “Hentai Camgirl”, Abby AKA HentaiLive, popped up on the popular camming site Chaturbate. There was a major twist though; this girl was completely animated. The animated camming model quickly rose to the most popular chatroom with over 16,000 active viewers at one point. This colorful new performer brought a very mixed reaction, with many broadcasters questioning the legitimacy of this new camgirl.

Update: Interview With FigWiggy

Nate from Webcam Startup managed to jump on a live interview with The Don’t Do Drugs Bear from FigWiggy. The cartoon would not break character, so we didn’t get a look at the technology behind the cartoons, but the interview was very revealing. It goes into some of the story behind how Abby Oddly was created and when/how the dialogues with Chaturbate happened (during AVN). The Don’t Do Drugs Bear also talks more about Dirty Folk Entertainment and what the future might look like for Abby.

HentaiLive / Abby Oddly Had Over 16,000 Live Viewers

Abby Oddly quickly became the top chatroom on Chaturbate, with over 16,000 viewers watching the cartoon’s show. That is very impressive. For comparison; Celestia Vega got 20,000 live viewers on her first MyFreeCams show. These are the two major examples of first-time camgirls breaking records, breaking sites and causing some drama. The only difference is that Celestia Vega was a real live human and Abby Oddly is a cartoon avatar.

Allegations Of HentaiLive Breaking Chaturbate

Just like when Celestia Vega got on cam, there’s allegations that HentaiLive also managed to break Chaturbate. Or at least make the site / Abby Oddly’s chatroom start glitching due to the massive number of live viewers. These allegations were made via tweets and other comments on various sites. It does not seem like the glitches were nearly as bad as when Vega cammed on MFC, however.

Does This Go Against Chaturbate’s TOS / Policy / Rules?

Chaturbate has issued warnings and banning for performers simply wearing masks before. In-fact, you can find horror stories about performers getting haircuts and getting suspensions as they don’t match the image in the 2257 Compliance Documentation. With that in mind, it’s hard to believe that Chaturbate would be okay with this type of show, even if the person behind the animated version is indeed over the age of eighteen and fully 2257 Compliant.

Update: Response From Chaturbate Leadership:

Thank you for your email, we appreciate your interest in live animated broadcasting on CB. Anyone may broadcast an animated version of themselves on CB as long as the show is live (not pre-recorded) and does not violate our Terms. If you intend to use a new/different account for your live animation broadcast and you’d like to earn tokens during your broadcast, you will need to submit age verification documents for yourself on that account and for any others who will be controlling the animation. We trust this email is responsive to your inquiry, but please feel free let us know if we can help you further.

HentaiLive Claims To Have Special Chaturbate Permission

On her profile, HentaiLive claims to have special permission from Chaturbate to broadcast her cartoon / avatar version. Whether this is true or not, it hasn’t been confirmed by Chaturbate, at least not publicly. We’ve reached out to Chaturbate for a comment. This post will be updated if/when we receive an official response.

How The Model Community Is Reacting

The model community is very upset about this, especially since models have previously been banned for things like wearing a mask (some are arguing the voice behind Abby is hiding behind a cartoon mask). A male model also had a cartoon simulation of an alien and received a site warning claiming he was “showing videos/photos of other people” and that it couldn’t be age verified. Even better, he wasn’t accepting tokens during that show, while our new “Hentai Cam Girl” is accepting tokens and doing shows!

The model outrage is understanding, especially since when you think of “live cam models” real people are the first thing that come to mind. But there is another side of the model community who thinks it’s interesting and should be allowed. The cartoon is clearly voiced by a real person, who one would assume has been verified by Chaturbate, so everything is 2257 Compliant.

While the person behind the account is definitely “of age,” some are still complaining that there’s no way to verify it is the same person everytime, and that the cartoon-esque style will attract minors to the site.

Twitter blew up with commentary. Although the commentary was mixed, it definitely seemed like it was leaning towards being critical towards Chaturbate over allowing this to occur. There are also plenty of people who are excited about Abby.

Check out what people on Twitter are saying.

HentaiLive / Abby Oddly Returns To Chaturbate – 3/18/2018

Abby Oddly has returned to Chaturbate on Sunday, March 18th, 2018. She’s live as of writing this update and currently has over 2,200 users in her room. Despite the massive amount of people watching, Chaturbate isn’t featuring her on the homepage, and it doesn’t appear that she’s being featured on any other pages (outside of her chatroom) as well. Perhaps this is Chaturbate reacting to the massive outcry from the model community. “Shadow Banning” the account, in a way.

HentaiLive / Abby Oddly First Announced Live On FigWiggy

Abby was first announced on a Fig Wiggy Live Hangout that happens on Vimeo each Wednesday. The hangout consists of the hosts featuring the cartoon contributors to the Fig Wiggy blog. (As of writing this) their latest video released before Abby’s blog post dropped and she first broadcasted over Chaturbate. It’s an easy assumption that Abby will grace the live hangout on Wednesday the 21st. The episode where Abby was announced is embedded below.

At 22:48, Fig Wiggy hosts announce a new member:

“We have a new cast member that’s going to be joining us very soon. She’ll be making her first public appearance this Saturday, not in FigWiggy.com though, although she will be writing for FigWiggy.com though. She’ll be writing our new sex trends. It’s a new girl, and Annie’s sister. Annie’s smoking hot sister. She’s high maintenance. but she’s great. She’s going to be joining us very, very soon as a writer. And she’ll be…..Doing her own ‘live stuff’ on sites…..Dirty sites. She likes to take those titties out, which I support.”

Open Bobs BB – Sexual culture in the age of the internet.

Is Cartoon Camming Going To Trend On Chaturbate?

This is a question worth asking. HentaiLive’s epic chatroom numbers could be attributed to it being something new, exciting and unprecedented. It could be that people actually have a strong interest in cartoon camming. If so, will the camming sites allow it? Or ban it? The model community does have a point about cartoons and the children factor. There’s also merit to the argument that camming should feature real humans. Legally, as long as the voice is 2257 Compliance, there isn’t any liability. And this event has demonstrated that there might be interest in cartoon camgirls.

We’ll update this post as things evolve. We’re currently waiting for a response from both Chaturbate as well as FigWiggy. Due to it being St Paddy’s Weekend, it’s an easy assumption that a follow-up won’t be made from either parties until the start of the next business week. Until then, we’d love to hear your thoughts on Abby in the comment section below!
